Scholarships are the heart of what this chapter does. Every membership, every event, and every gift comes back to one thing — helping Jefferson County students get to The University of Alabama.

Our Scholarship Program

The Jefferson County Chapter has built over 50 fully endowed scholarships, and that number keeps growing. For the 2026–2027 school year, those endowments will award over $280,000 to Jefferson County students attending the Capstone.

Each one was created by an alumnus, a family, or a group of friends who wanted to leave something lasting behind, and each carries its own purpose set by the people who established it. Most are for entering freshmen. Some are tied to a particular field of study, a campus activity, a specific high school, or a hometown connection, and some are renewable from year to year. Some honor the memory of someone this chapter cared about. Taken together, they represent decades of quiet generosity from Jefferson County alumni.

Our scholarships are endowed and administered at The University of Alabama and are awarded to students from Jefferson County. Support a Scholarship

Gifts of any size go to work for local students. Contributions are made through The University of Alabama’s secure giving site.

About Your Contribution

It is worth knowing the difference between the two ways of supporting our students, because they are handled differently:

• Gifts made through The University of Alabama — using the alumni.ua.edu link above — are received by the University. UA states that these contributions are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law and that you will receive an official receipt from The University of Alabama.
• Chapter dues and contributions paid directly to the Jefferson County Chapter stay with the chapter and fund our local scholarship efforts, events, and student recruitment. The chapter is not able to issue a tax-deductible acknowledgment letter for these.

Both kinds of support matter to us. We simply want you to know which one you are making before you give. For questions about how a gift applies to your own return, please check with your tax advisor.
