Welcome to the Jefferson County Chapter of the University of Alabama’s National Alumni Association, where we welcome all alumni and friends in supporting the University. We would love for you to join us in fun and fellowship as we celebrate the Crimson Tide spirit together.
Our Mission
Our Chapter is dedicated to supporting the University of Alabama and Jefferson County high school graduates — and to having fun at interesting events along the way.
The Chapter has over 50 fully endowed scholarships that provide more than $280,000 a year to Jefferson County high school students.
We realize that this is a way to make the University more affordable to students who really want to attend The Capstone — the highest point and crowning achievement of public education in Alabama.
Young Alumni
Young Alumni are an important part of the Chapter, with lots of energy and new ideas. If you are 30 years old or younger, there is a reduced-cost membership. We would love for young alumni and friends to be part of the Chapter.
What We Do
Our Chapter has many events throughout the year. Our Kickoff Party in August is our biggest event, with guest speakers and activities as we prepare for the coming football season. We routinely have luncheons with guest speakers from the University, a pregame reception when Alabama Basketball is playing in Birmingham, student recruitment events, gatherings for University sporting events in Birmingham, TV watch parties for away football and basketball games, and so much more.

Two More Ways to Support the Capstone
Beyond your chapter dues, there are two simple things any Alabama alumnus or fan can do that make a real difference for the University and for our students.
Join the National Alumni Association. The Jefferson County Chapter is your home team, but the National Alumni Association is the whole Bama family, and the two work best together. NAA dues help fund one of the largest alumni scholarship programs in the country and support the nationwide network of alumni chapters, including ours. There is a direct benefit for families, too: the NAA provides a scholarship to an incoming student whose parents or grandparents have been NAA members for three years. Learn more at alumni.ua.edu.
Put a UA tag on your car. Choosing the University of Alabama plate when you renew your Alabama tag costs $50 above the standard registration fee — and under state law that entire amount goes to the University’s scholarship fund for Alabama students. It adds up: more than 120,000 UA tags on the road generated roughly $5.2 million in scholarship support last year. It comes back to us, too. The National Alumni Association uses car tag revenue to match donations made to local chapter scholarship endowments, so a gift to a Jefferson County scholarship goes further than the amount you write on the check. Gifts need to be in before June 15 to be eligible for that year’s match. Ask for the University of Alabama tag at your next renewal — it works for the Capstone every mile you drive.
